📜 Frequently Asked Questions

For our Free YT Downloadable Files

1. "Why am I not getting an email with the download link?"

Check your spam or promotions folder—sometimes the email lands there. If you still don’t see it within 10–15 minutes, try re-submitting your email address, making sure it's typed correctly. Occasionally, emails may not go through if you used a less common email provider. If you don’t receive the download link, try using a more widely recognized email address—like one ending in @gmail.com or @yahoo.com.

Still having trouble? Contact us at [email protected] and we’ll help you out.

2. "Why do I see a different scene than Casey is showing? / How do I switch timelines?"

If you're seeing a different part of the project than what's shown in the video, you're likely on a different timeline or viewing a different composition. Look for the timeline tabs at the bottom of the screen in DaVinci Resolve. Click on the one that matches the name shown in the video. You can also double-click the correct timeline in the Media Pool to open it.

3. “This isn’t free, you want me to buy some Fusion course.”

The intro project files that accompany this Introductory course are completely free—no purchase required. There is a Fusion course available for purchase, but it’s optional. If you're just starting out, you’ll have plenty to learn and explore without spending a dime. Continue on to your email, where your free files have been sent.

4. "The file I have is called Intro_Workfiles-5b.dra, different than what Casey says in the video."

No worries! The file name may have been updated slightly since the video was recorded, but it's the same project. Everything shown in the lessons is still there—it just might have a newer version label (like "-5b").

5. "Why does it say 'Media Offline' and how do I fix it?"

“Media Offline” usually means the program can’t find the video or image files linked in the project. To fix it:

  1. Right-click on any clip that says “Media Offline” and choose Relink Selected Clips.

  2. Navigate to the folder where you saved the downloaded files.

  3. Select the missing file(s) and click OK.

Once linked, the red “Media Offline” messages should disappear. Still having trouble? Check out our support articles here.

Other Common Troubleshooting Tips

Here are a few things to try if you're running into issues:

  1. Switch your browser. Sometimes simply using a different web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) can resolve the issue.

  2. Update your GPU drivers and restart your computer. Make sure your graphics drivers are current and that your computer has enough available storage.

  3. Try downloading the file again. Occasionally, a second or third attempt can work if the first download was interrupted.

  4. The file is a .dra zip archive. You may need a file extraction tool to unzip it properly. Visit groundcontrol.film/support for help articles if you're unsure how to do this.

  5. Check your computer’s permissions. In rare cases, permission settings might prevent the download—especially on work or school devices.

  6. VPN or international restrictions. If you’re accessing the site from outside the U.S., a VPN or local internet restrictions could be interfering.
